Being at the forefront of the latest developments and trends in our sector is also part of our work and, in fact, it is the distinguishing feature that sets us apart from our competitors. Today, we would like to talk to you about one of the latest trends in the logistics sector and how we have applied it in the Akoma Group: Warehouse robotisation.
When we refer to warehouse robotisation, we refer to these «robotic shuttle systems» which are a hybrid of traditional shuttle systems and free robots. This offers the benefit of high storage density and a high degree of flexibility due to the dynamic movement of the robots, eliminating throughput and sequencing constraints, providing higher productivity.
A great example of this applied to the Akoma Group would be the silo in Barberà del Vallès. In fact, we can say that we were among the first in the sector to implement this trend, as the first version of our automated silo was inaugurated in 1992. Since then, we have been continuously implementing improvements by applying the latest technologies and transferring this robotisation to the group's other centres.
